The Community First Collective is a new way to strengthen the link between Council and community. It’s a place for local people to come together, share ideas, talk about priorities and work together on positive change in our neighbourhoods.
In this video, I’m down at Geo Thompson Park meeting with local residents to chat about how the park is used and what matters most to them. From playgrounds to pathways and green spaces, these conversations are what help shape the future of our community parks. It’s always great to get out on the ground, listen, and see firsthand what people love about their neighbourhood.
I visited the Pally Patch at Palmyra Primary School during the Sunday farmers market. What a beautiful space it is - alive with colour, learning and connection.
The Patch is more than a garden. It’s where seasons are marked in seedlings and soil, where First Nations knowledge of land and cycles inspires us to see deeper and where families come together to nurture both plants and people.
From composting and caring for Country, to teaching kids about sustainability and sharing food, the Pally Patch is a small place with a big story.
I’d love to hear what inspires you in our local gardens and green spaces.
